Albert Hitchcock is Chief Technology and Operations Officer for Pearson, the world’s leading learning company, where he joined the Executive team in March 2014.
Albert is responsible for Technology, Operations and Global Business Services organisations within Pearson. In this role Albert leads Digital product development, Information technology, Operations encompassing Supply chain, Procurement, Customer service and Real Estate and all of Pearson’s shared services across Finance, HR and Technology. Albert is leading the charge to digitise the business and create the world’s foremost learning experience underpinned by an advanced and standardised technology platform.
Albert spent a 28 year career in the technology industry, and originally worked for BAE systems and Racal Electronics in a variety of engineering and product development roles. In 1993 he joined the Canadian Telecommunications Equipment provider Nortel Networks and was subsequently promoted through the ranks of the Technology organisation to become global CIO in 2002. In January 2007 after 14 years at Nortel Albert joined Vodafone and was appointed into the role of Vodafone Group Chief Information Officer. In this role, Albert was responsible for the Information Technology Organisation within Vodafone and its Operating Companies around the world.
In December 2019, Albert joined Nationwide Building Society as main board Non Executive Director.
Albert is a Fellow of the Institute of Engineering and Technology and a Chartered Engineer
Albert is based in London, at Pearson’s UK headquarters.
