Yang Bai is a Ph.D. candidate in social & personality psychology at UC Berkeley. She was born in a small town in the southern part of China. Rooted in her traditional Eastern Asian background, she is always fascinated by how people from different cultures differ in their perception and experience of positive emotions. This interest motivated her to delve into cross-culture positive emotion research. Yang's research mainly focuses on exploring how poignant positive emotional experiences are elicited, appraised and experienced across different cultures. Further, she also explores the relation between experiencing positive emotions and related well-being outcomes in different cultures. Yang is currently researching the the differences between contentment and other traditionally idolized positive emotions like happiness.
