Sonam has a Bachelor’s Degree in Education from Paro College of Education through the Royal University of Bhutan. She has been teaching for the last 11 years, and her greatest passion lies in social work and giving back to the community that has made her what she is today. Sonam also gives her time as a volunteer for various activities organized by the Civil Society Organizations in Bhutan, especially those that work to make a difference in the lives of women, children, and the socially and economically disadvantaged. She is an advocate for the Tarayana Foundation, RENEW, and Bhutan Center for Media and Democracy in the schools. She is also an active member of The Guardians of Peace, which works to contribute in many ways towards realizing the country’s dream of Gross National Happiness.
